Having gone big in “Dune,” his 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s futuristic opus, the director Denis Villeneuve has gone bigger and more far out in the follow up. Set in the aftermath of the first movie, the sequel resumes the story boldly, delivering visions both phantasmagoric and familiar. Like Timothée Chalamet’s dashingly coifed hero — who steers monstrous sandworms over the desert like a charioteer — Villeneuve puts on a great show. The art of cinematic spectacle is alive and rocking in “Dune: Part Two,” and it’s a blast. “Dune” made it clear that Villeneuve isn’t that kind of textualist.

Lawmakers also said Wednesday that they want to at least temporarily suspend a sales tax exemption on equipment offered to data centers. Burt Jones touts as a way to shore up tax revenue so that Georgia could further cut its income tax rate for all residents and businesses. A study last year by Georgia State University suggested the state saw a return of less than 20 cents on the dollar. However, the credits are transferrable — production companies can sell them to any individual or business with state income tax liability. The data centers tax credit is projected to cost the state $44 million in foregone sales tax revenue this year, according to a 2022 University of Georgia study.

Harrison Ford has been donning the fedora and cracking the whip of the daring tomb-raider Indiana Jones for more than 40 years. The series' latest installment, "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," leans on myths from ancient Greece about a device that can supposedly turn back the hands of time. Indiana Jones suddenly looked generations younger — perfect for the movie's opening sequence, set during World War II. Founded in 1975 by celebrated "Star Wars" creator Geroge Lucas, ILM — a division of Lucasfilm, which also produces "Indiana Jones" — is at the forefront of this new Hollywood frontier. One of the team's biggest achievements has been speeding up the timeline by which filmmakers can implement these tools, Bredow said.

It was not a big surprise to us that the “Super Mario Bros. Movie” was going to do an extraordinary amount of business. Is there an awareness that there are issues with going to the movie theater? Now that the business is coming back, the theater owners have already started to continue to innovate and improve the experience so that it’s always better than the home. In both Los Angeles and New York, quite a few prime theaters that catered to independent film have shut down. One company, Pacific Theaters, which ran the ArcLight, is the only company in the country who filed Chapter Seven bankruptcy.
